Unveiling The Giotto: A Tribute to Engineering Virtuoso Giotto Bizzarrini

Updated: Sep 19, 2024

In a monumental step towards automotive excellence, Bizzarrini, the legendary Italian car manufacturer, has unveiled the highly anticipated Giotto Hyper GT. Named after the visionary engineer and company founder, Giotto Bizzarrini, this masterpiece is the brainchild of the eminent Giorgetto Giugiaro, along with his son Fabrizio at GFG Style in Turin, Italy. This collaboration rekindles a partnership forged 60 years ago, which led to the creation of the iconic Bizzarrini 5300 GT. Now, their artistry has given birth to a spiritual successor that seamlessly marries elegance, performance, and usability.

The Essence of Iconic Refinement

The Giotto brilliantly marries the past and present, drawing inspiration from the most legendary Bizzarrini models and reinterpreting them for the modern era. The dual bonnet vents, reminiscent of the original Bizzarrinis, have evolved into a new frontal visual character. The slender LED headlights converge in the center, cradling the unmistakable Bizzarrini badge, an homage to the classic 5300 GT.

On the profile, the Giotto proudly features a reimagined triangular B-pillar, paying tribute to the 5300 GT, and a rear windscreen that elegantly cascades onto the wheel arches. Its rear-mid-engined layout exudes a predatory stance, a visual testament to the tremendous power delivered through its rear wheels.

Bizzarrini V12: A Symphony of Power

Beneath the graceful curves of the rear screen lies the heart of the Giotto: the exclusive Bizzarrini V12 engine, a product of a partnership with the renowned Cosworth. This naturally aspirated marvel not only complies with worldwide legislative and emission regulations but is engineered to deliver an unparalleled level of engagement and drivability. With a capacity of 6626cc, paying homage to Giotto Bizzarrini’s birthdate, June 6th, 1926, this engine is a true testament to the genius behind its creation.

Aerodynamic Prowess and Engineering Excellence

Giotto Bizzarrini’s legacy lives on in the Giotto's pursuit of aerodynamic efficiency. Just as he pioneered the design for the legendary Ferrari 250-based ‘bread van’, the technical and design teams behind the Giotto have prioritized performance through purity of form. The Formula One derived dihedral front splitter and rear diffuser, coupled with the elegant integrated fixed rear wing, ensure optimal downforce for all driving conditions.

Materials of the Future

Giotto Bizzarrini was known for pushing the limits of contemporary engineering, making extensive use of the strongest lightweight materials available. In a similar vein, the construction of the Giotto leverages the lightest, strongest, and most suitable materials available today. With an elegant carbon fiber skin and a body structure based on top-tier motorsport technologies and manufacturing processes, the Giotto is a true marvel of modern engineering.

Driving Emotion at the Forefront

Bizzarrini’s Chief Technical Officer, Chris Porritt, leads the engineering program, setting the Giotto on course for on-road testing starting in late 2024. His vision for the Giotto is clear - it's not about lap times or acceleration records, but the emotional engagement of both the driver and the passenger.

The Dawn of a New Chapter

With deliveries of the 5300 GT Corsa Revival in full swing and the Giotto project firmly defined, Bizzarrini enters an exciting new phase. Julian Jenkins, a veteran of luxury automotive brands, takes the reins as Chief Executive Officer from November 1st, 2023. His vision, together with the collective expertise of the team, is poised to propel Bizzarrini to even greater heights, not only in vehicles but as a global luxury icon.

Rezam Al Roumi, the dedicated custodian of Bizzarrini, shares his personal passion for the brand and commitment to its future. “The legacy of Giotto Bizzarrini stretches over 60 years and is attributed to many of the most iconic cars and engines of our time, most importantly those bearing his own name. As custodian of this remarkable Brand I am committed to returning Bizzarrini to its rightful place within the luxury automotive sector as well as creating new opportunities to engage and delight our discerning clients”.

In the wake of this monumental reveal, the Giotto stands poised to redefine the boundaries of automotive excellence and continue the legacy of a true virtuoso, Giotto Bizzarrini. Stay tuned for further updates as the journey towards the first customer deliveries in early 2026 continues.
